birthday poem
—by

Another birthday come and gone
meaningless, unremarkable
Another day of having my blood sucked dry
by
Narcissus.

Another year gone by
Of broken promises and shattered dreams
Funny that! I still have dreams.

Another year, another day
of giving, giving, giving
of making deposits for no returns.

I don't even know what I wanted
Love maybe???
To be pampered even.
How 'bout just some respect and dignity?
Anything but:

Another year, another day
of giving, giving, giving
of making deposits for no returns.

Really, I don't know what I wanted,
just something, anything
beautiful.
