Goddess: Chang-E (China)

[pronounced CHAHNG-euh]Chang-E's sacred animal is the toad

Chang-E, goddess of the moon, was originally a mortal woman who, by mistake, swallowed a drink of immortality that was intended for her husband. Instantly, Chang-E lifted into the sky, and when she landed on the moon, the hare and the toad who lived there welcomed here. Chang-E still looks down to Earth from her home in the sky, protecting children as they sleep. She is also know as Chang-O or Chang-Mu. Her sacred animal is the toad.
