don't try to understand

you could never understand our war
so don't try
wearing your 'we beat the brits in '76'
on yer sleeve
won't cut it
smugness and naiveté
never went well together
zealous,right-wingrighteousness
does not freedom make
And now our worlds are farther apart than
ever they were
while you and our oppressor murder
women and babies in the middle east
oneofourown sold our mother
gerry took from us the one thing we could hold on to
the one thing that kept us going for 30-some years
hope...

you could never understand
so don't try.
