Evil
—by míchealín ní dhochartaigh

Do you think you would
know evil
if it looked you in the face?
You wouldn't.

It comes disguised in righteousness
makes a god of itself
and all clichés aside...
when you least expect it,
well, you know...

Because evil does not
discriminate for victims
it knows no boundaries

Where there is love,
it sows indignation.
Where there is honesty, deceit.
Where there is trust,
it sows icy apprehension.
Where there is peace, fear.

And, yea 'though it walks
cloaked in the valley of
organised religion,
Evil holds no court of compassion.

Afterall, it was Christianity
that created the Devil
wrought in Evil, devoid
of moral character
in its own perfect
Image.
