Full Flower Moon (May)
—by Míchealín Daugherty

(Also known as Dyad Moon, Full Corn Moon, Milk Moon, Moon When the Ice Goes Out of the Rivers, Planting Moon)

  • In most areas, flowers are abundant everywhere during this time. Thus, the name of this Moon.
  • This is the moon that honours the Lord and the Lady's marriage, and its consummation upon the Earth. The ecstasy and passion in their mating dance is reflected in this moon. [See also: Beltane]
  • Flowers burst into full blossoms, tree limbs grow heavy with leaves and spring rains give way to sunshine.
  • This moon is a good time finish projects because energy runs high. Goals even difficult ones are now within our grasp.
  • It is also a romantic month because the lord and Lady's love touches our hearts.
  • To Wiccans, the Dyad Moon is one of the powerful moons, because it is a time when anything is possible.
  • For rituals, dress in bright colours and adorn yourself with flowers. Use silver candles and jasmine incense. Wedding paraphernalia is also appropriate for the altar at this time.
  • This is the time to bless fertiliser for your magickal garden. Say something like:

O Lady and Lord of Moon and Sun
I call upon you Ancient Ones
To fertilise these plants and seeds
And help them grow to life with ease

  • You may also want to welcome faeries into your garden.  Remember to set a wee space aside for the faeries or the little people. I actually have a tiny faerie statue that sits under a mushroom in my garden. I always snip off the prettiest flower and put it in her arms, which are open. Here's a little incantation you can say. Best to do this during a full moon:

Faeries, Elves and Magic Ones
I offer you this spot undone
To live and tend, to laugh and play
Please bless my garden
Everyday.

  • It is also a time to bless money. Say something like:

Money multiply and grow
Fertile Maiden make it so

  • Lastly, it is a time to ask the Lord and the Lady to bring their passion into aspects of your life to widen your circle of friends, to enhance a romance or open your heart to one, to strengthen your capacity to grow personally, spiritually, career-wise, etc.
