Marjoram
(Origanum majorana or O. vulgarare)

(Folk names: Joy of the Mountain, Knotted Marjoram, Marjorlaine, Mountain Mint, Pot Marjoram, Sweet Marjoram, Wintersweet.)


 
  • Marjoram belongs to the mint family. It is thought to alleviate menstrual cramps and nausea.Marjoram
  • The deities represented by marjoram are Venus and Aphrodite; the planet is Mercury; the element is Air.
  • Marjoram is considered a masculine herb. Its powers are believed to protection, love happiness, health and money.
  • Its magickal uses include love spells; and it can be added to food to strengthen love.
  • Marjoram is sometimes added to soups to ensure a happy family.
  • Carried or placed around the house, it is protective.
  • Grown in the garden, it offers shielding powers against evil.
  • Mixed with violets, marjoram is said to work as an amulet against colds during the winter months.
  • Given to a depressed person, marjoram brings happiness.
  • Marjoram is often one of the herbs found in money mixtures and sachets.
