The Seal People

The Seal People seem to be a separate race from the Mermaids. They can use a cloak or skin to take on human form.

Christianity tried to incorporate this Celtic object into its teachings, by claiming that seals were humans in purgatory, and in some parts of Ireland there is still a taboo on killing seals.

From the outer Hebredis of Scotland, a Yundah, is a sealwoman; but to the Australian Aboriginal, the same word, Yundah, means the "value of change through trading."
