Sons of Thunder
—by Sharon Marshall
Many called yet few are chosen
To carry forth the Justice flame
10 men they bore the sins of tyrants
10 men who broke those tyrants chains
Francis Hughes and Patsy O'Hara
Martin Hurson and Kevin Lynch
Brave Joe McDonnell and Kieran Doherty
Micky Devine and Raymond McCreesh
Gaunt and pale their bodies broken
Their gallant spirits took the blows
Whislt Margaret Thatcher smiled with malice
No colder devil ever spoke
The hell of H Block could not break them
No fear had they for cell or grave
For Liberty and Justice thunder
"Bhi An Bua Againn"
Now freedom calls her children closer
The Ghost of Kevin Barry smiles
His pledge his word his life his blood
Shine out 'neath gold and green of Erin's skies
Pearse and Tone and bold James Connolly
With truth and honour light the way
For there with Oisin's sons and daughters
Walk Bobby Sands and Thomas McElwee.
