When Trees Fall
—by Míchealín Daugherty

When
a tree
falls in a forest,
Does is still make a sound
If no one is there to hear it?
When you wake up lonely in the night,
Do you reach for the warmth beside you?
If your tears fall, a shoulder upon which to lay your head?
If you hurt, a lover to ease the pain?
Then, do you think you know what its like to be lonely?
Complete utterly devastating loneliness?
To ache, To need, To bleed?
Its like
The tree,
When it
Falls
Alone
In the
Forest.
